Hello. Am I the only one who likes verious forms of techno here? They say that techno in the US is dying, but I happen to think the contrary. Anyone else out here like techno? If not, why?

Hey Kc! I enjoy techno! I like the steady beats that the music has, makes me wanna dance and party all night long! lol

Well, I could give you a grocery list of reasons, but I think I just don't feel any kind of connection to the music, plus isn't it more a dancing-type music and not a listening-type music? I'm more into listening to music and not just using it as background noise. I think also it's the beat that is very distracting. In the end it's just not to my own taste which is mostly of music that's fallen way out of fashion for sure, but I'm not one who cares much about what's cool to most people long as it's cool to me. Not going to slight you or others for liking techno, though.

I like techno, house, trance and so on. My favorite artists are Darude, Kosheen, Cygnus X, Benicio, Svenson, and others. Then again I am European and I think that Techno is more popular there than here in the USA.

I like the melodic style of some of it, the talent of the DJ's is incredible, that is if they're doing anything, and it's not some prerecorded bull shit.

Take care

the music, if i may stretch the point, resembles a collection of car alarms triggered simultaneously..

Sure it counts. Labyrinth, I understand your point, but not all forms of techno have the same beat though. There are DJ's who change the beat, and there is even laid back stuff like ambient and lounge witch is more for listening. Star, I would have to agree that techno is more popular in Europe, in fact, many of the DJ's that used to live in North America are now moving to Europe. It's kind of sad I think, but understandable since the audiance in places like Germany and Holland is much larger than that of the US.

Well, I can't say I've heard all styles of Tecno, but what I have heard, I have been unimpressed. I do have friends who enjoy it a lot, but I don't find it moving. to me, it sounds a bit off.

Would bands like the Orb or Tipsy be considered techno? I do have the "U-F-Orb" album, and I just discovered Tipsy on a web search last night. Tipsy tends to make most of their music out of samples from old Sixties exotica records, and that's fun to listen to so you can play "name the sample" if you can.
